This is purely to help people by sharing information about Moksha Narayana bali Pooja at Gokarna, Karnataka, The holy place of Lord Mahabaleshwara and Koti Theertha.
I am a Brahmin.
We/My family were struggling through some common issues (bad luck/obstacles/health/finance etc) which were stuck for a reasonably long time and we approached an astrologer in Hyderabad in Nov 2012.
He suggested us to perform Narayana Bali Pooja for our Pitru Devata who left this world in an unnatural way (death by accident/untimely death etc)
He suggested us to get this ritual done at Gokarna.. Some astrologers suggest to do at
Triyambakeshwar.
Triyambakeshwar.
It takes less than half day to perform Narayana Bali pooja.
I did some research on the net and found out about a good poojari by name Anantha Guni in Gokarna. I contacted him over phone and arranged for the ritual to be done in Dec 2012.

We traveled from Hyderabad to Hubli by over night train
From Hubli to Kumta by KSRTC Bus
From Kumta to Gokarna by KSRTC bus
No direct train from Hyderabad to Gokarna. and no direct train/bus from Hubli to Gokarna..
But you will get many Cabs from Hubli to Gokarna
It was the time of Pitru Paksha and Gokarna was extremely busy at the time we went.
After reaching Gokarna Shri Ananth Guniji received us and arranged a Lodging for us. we stayed there for 3 days and performed the Narayana Bali Pooja.
The ritual was done by good Veda Pandits arranged by Guniji to our full satisfaction by explaining everything in Hindi to us.
As we should not visit temples on the same day of performing the Narayanabali pooja, next day we performed abhisekha to Lord Mahabaleshwar with our own hands with the help of Anantha Guniji, in the temple.

The dakshina taken by Purohits there vary from purohit to purohit depending on how much quality they deliver and also the budget one has for the pooja. They may charge between Rs. 9000/- to Rs. 18000/- for Narayana Bali Pooja alone.
Some people are advised to perform Naga Bali pooja and/or Pretha Samskara along with Narayana Bali pooja. The dakshina will be charged seperately for each pooja.
An average and ideal Dakshina for N.Bali pooja would be around Rs.15000/-
The current rate card can be quoted by the people from Gokarna only.
Apart from pooja Gokarna is a lovely, clean and neat tourist spot with lot of foreigners. There are good number of decent hotels available there. The hotel room tariff will range from Rs.300 to Rs.2000 per day.
I really don't know about others who performed this pooja but, I saw the wonderful result just after 11 days of performing the ritual.Our Long awaited wish was fulfilled.
During our stay we ate at Guniji’s home -Breakfast-Tea, Lunch, evening Tea, Dinner.

Mind you that he was not commercial and did not ask for any pay for the food. It was like a family visit to your close relatives home. Guniji’s family are very welcoming and they behave like you are their own brother/sister.
The only problem we faced was we did not know Kannada langauge.
Purohiths there perform many other poojas for pitru dosha remedy and also poojas like Navagraha Shanthi Pooja, Rudrabhisheka to lord mahabaleshwara and many more.
One suggestion to who all want to go to Gokarna for perform some or the other ritual or pooja..
You need to do some things before starting from home to Gokarna.
things like buying a Whole coconut and taking pradakshina of your house etc.
So please ask the Pandit (from Gokarna) for the things to be done and to be carried along with you.

Some people in Gokarna might trouble you with improper dakshina and shortcuts in performing pooja..
Please arrange for everything over phone with some or the other purohit in advance so that u dont face any problem there.

Last year 10th march 2014 my sister elder died. She had no marriage. She had no children.
She was aged about 62 years. I had done her last rights. As per Acharya, I had done
Moksha Narayana Bali starting from 9th day, 10th day, 11th day, 12th and 13th day Vaikunta.
Me and my sister are smartha Brahmin (Shankar mutt() Rigveda.
Since for this year 10th March 2015, it will be one year, Do I have to do same process what
I have done last year. Please clarify the issue sir. Some learned says once Moksha Narayana
Bali is done (since she had no children), there is no doing of one year. I am in doubt and

I donno about others but the Brahmins (Anantha Guni and team) hired by me performed the pooja to the fullest of my satisfaction.
I realy believed all through the pooja that it will show us a way out of the jammed life. Believe me i really saw the difference with in 2 weeks and over a period of time i became so strong mentally that i feel like a total rebirth after my visit to Gokarna

It takes less than half day's time for the pooja. since you should not visit temples on the same day of Pooja you will have to stay another day for Darshan in Temple.
Cant exactly remember the number of purohiths required. But it will be taken care of by the main purohith whom to you talk and arrange for the pooja.

You can go alone to perform the pooja or take your family with you. taking family with you is not compulsory. there will be lodges for stay. rooms will be available from Rs 200 per day to Rs 2000 per day depending on your budget.
you will have to stay minimum 2 days. one day for pooja and one day for temple darshan.
Pooja will cost Rs 9000 to 15000 depending on the pandith you hire. Talk to any pandith on phone and take pooja cost details.
how much it costs to offer pithru samskara pooja at gokarna sir?
Sorry, I have no idea about Pitru Samskara pooja cost. Try to ask a poojari from Gokarna if you want to do it there.

Is this narayana bali pooja done in other temples, is it done in kalahasti?
small correction, This pooja is done near banks of river or at sea shore or near holy water mostly. some people get it done in other places too or even at own house. But if you go to a regular place like Triyambak or Gokarna it will be easy to get pandith since all of them will be used to doing this pooja almost daily. If you want to do it in other place you have to check with the pandith there. Also i would suggest you to take the suggestion of the astrologer who suggested you to do this pooja about which place to perform this pooja.

I have recently visited Gokarna for the Moksha Narayana Bali Puja for Pitru dosha Nivarana. As Murthi ji said, there were several persons can misguide you at the temple for pooja, and we have a great difficulty to find a Telugu knowing pandit at Gokarna.
At last, we found a very good head priest at Gokarna, who can speak very good Telugu and helped us to perform the entire pooja in 2 days, These two days we were stayed in their newly built house along with food i.e., tiffin, lunch and Dinner.
The first day we have performed Narayana Bali pooja, on this day temple entry is prohibited, and the next day we performed tripindi shradda, after completion of this, they have arranged the Anna Danam for more than 25 Brahmins at his home premises along with us. We were very happy with the Anna Danam for Brahmins in front of us.
These two days we never felt any language issues and what ever the doubts we have, he has rectified and made us comfort at the pooja, stay and food etc.,
Most of the other priest are cheating for the narayana bali pooja for only one day and after that, you can visit temple., Request you to not to believe all these and especially people who visit from both Telugu speaking states, need to be visited Ved. Balakrishna Gopal Adi for the comfortable pooja and staying facilities.
For all your convenience, I'm providing their contact numbers below.
It is advisable to speak to him before starting from the home for pooja, there were few formalities we should complete at Home. Get confirm with the priest and start from the home.

Thanks for your advice and guidance thru this blog, I just returned from Gokarna after spending two most important days of my life on 16th and 17th for the pitru pooja and it was really wonderful with Balakrishna Guruji guiding in Telugu and I did not feel any problem in communicating with them and doing pooja successfully. The acoomodation and food was also excellent. I strongly recommend that anyone going from Telegu speaking states should fix appointment on phone and then proceed as per the guruji's advice so that they can make you trip hassle free and memorable. I have gone thru beautiful emotions conducting pooja and at the end of it felt happy for my father and forefathers who I am sure must have got benefited with this rituals. I felt liberated after two days of rituals.
The amount spent is fully justified and as mentioned by Navinji, Annadanam for around 45 Brahmins at the end of the ritual as truly satisfying.
I thank the Guruji and both of you in passing thru my most important journey of life which is to Gokarna.

Sri Murty, thanks for sharing the excellent information, i have been advised to perform Naryana nagabali, preta narayana bali, moksha narayana bali and tila homa. i am telugu brahmin from Secunderabad. i am running very tough time in my professional life and so on.
the most worrying factor is the above cannot be performed when the parents are alive.
unless these are done i cannot get out of the clutches of the unhappy departed souls of fore fathers or mothers and lead a peaceful life. some distant cousins have had unnatural death and parents of the deceased did not perform proper rites.
any amount of consultations to find an solution is not forth coming and iam suffering for no sin of mine. my hands and legs are tied for some unknown karmic problem.

It has been exactly a week since we made the trip to Gokarna. We looked on this blog and went with the head priest BalaKrishna Adi. It all went perfect from start to finish. Sri BalaKrishna ji took care of us like his own family. We were there for three days.
I don't remember how many poojas we did, but if I remember right we did Narayan Bali, Tripindi Shradda,
Pretha Sanskaram, Nag bali, Ashlesha bali, Navagraha Pooja, Kala Sarpa Dosha Nivarana and some more. There was Annadanam as well.
Originally, I was contemplating to do nag bali only for the past three months (upon my hometown priest's advice).
I was never getting a chance to do it. When I contacted triambakeshwar priests, they said they have to do it along with
Narayan Bali. Narayan Bali cannot be done when father is alive. And also, my father's elder brother was sick for the past many years and they was no chance that he could move. So I was thinking what should I do and slowly the plan was going no where.
And around this time, my father's elder brother passed away. Some time after this, I got a chance to replan. It was no planning on my end. It was pure divine planning. I was led to this blog and since I was a telugu speaking person, I went with Sri BalaKrishna Adi. And it was smooth and hassle free from there.
So first time in our life I guess, we did pind daan to our ancestors. Narayan bali is performed for those who had abnormal
deaths. So we started digging in our extended family and we found some names. My father participated in narayan bali, tripindi shraddha and pretha samkarna. Me and my wife participated in rest of the poojas as well.
We felt the fee was very very nominal for all these poojas. It would have been easily twice the cost elsewhere. And the poojas were done very methodically without missing any detail. My wife and father were very surprised at this. Are people like this still existing in India? We were honestly surprised by the quality and the sincerity. We were truly blown away. May be this was true hidden India. Because of people like this (Sri Balakrishna Adi) the tradition is kept alive. Think of it as this way, they were carrying
out the rites as per tradition. We got a bit curious and upon inquiring Sri BalaKrishna stated that they have been doing like this
for the past 300 years or so. Luckily, they built a lodge right in front of their house and which is very good as well. We stayed in that lodge. So it was one full hassle free package. lodging, pooja, food, annadanam and any other services. if you have a kid, they will try to help you out with kid's food (milk, hot drinking water, etc.). They were very humble. We were served food in his house (breakfast, lunch and evening). The food was very good (it was home made and much better than the hotels in that vicinity and not spicy too) and above all it was Satvik. His son was helping us out in poojas. One or the other way, his entire family was trying to take care of guests(devotees) (again as per tradition) to the utmost level of satisfaction. After this rich personally gratifying experience, I have decided to pay additional dakshina after this. Why? Personally, I will feel very happy as I would like the tradition to be kept alive and next I felt, they really didn't make any money at all.
But if one is heading out to Gokarna and not sure of a priest, I would highly recommend Sri Balakrishna Adi. He can speak Kannada, telugu, marathi, tamil and may be hindi as well. He is a very humble priest and can advise you on a range of services and will surely provide services to your utmost satisfaction and lastly, I will definitely say that they are top notch. I visited the Gokarna Kshetra in the last week of October 2016 to perform Narayana Bali Pooja since our family astrologers had advised both me and my wife for pitru dosha nivaran. I had spoken to Purohit Ananth Guni Acharya in advance to find out the process and the time required. Thanks to this blog for the contact details. As suggested by Acharya I made the preparations and arrived in Gokarna. Acharya had made my hotel bookings for stay but I had requested for lunch at his home after performing the rituals. His family served really sattvic and delicious food.
Ananth Guni Acharya had made all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the rituals associated with Narayana Bali Pooja. He had assembled very well versed Acharya’s for the recitation of various mantras. I was quite impressed with the approach followed explaining the rituals of the meaning by veteran Shri Acharya Ram Bhattaru.
I have experienced the benefits and have started realising the results of the fruits of performing the Narayana Bali Pooja. Many outstanding issues in my family which were lingering for many years have recently got resolved.

Mr.Reddy just about a week ago i.e, 21st & 22nd January we got the Narayana bali & pithru dosha puja performed at Gokarna, Karnataka. the results are almost instantaneous. you are free to perform at tryambakeswar but i found the pujaris at Gokarna are more well versed and good. if you live in Hyderabad, take a train from Secunderabad to Hubballi and take a cab or bus to Gokarna good hotels and guest rooms are available and food is good.

We r facing lots of problems and not able to recovery too. Our own relatives are only our enemies. . We contacted astrologer and they adviced us to do narayana bali pooja. As we came across net we saw those pandits numbers and we contacted. His name is balakrishna gopal adi - 9448579085, 8722083035. All arrangments were done by him... Rooms we had booked in sanskruthi resort. We went on 8/3/17 wed and did poojas on 9/3/17,10/3/17 and letf there on 10/3/17 noon at 2.30pm. Waiting for the pooja phala...god should bless us.

It will cost you between 12k to 15k for Narayana Bali pooja.
Travel, boarding and lodging will be extra as per your budget.
But if you want a confirmed amount, pls contact any priest whose reference is given in above blog and comments. They will tell you the correct dakshina currently charged.

I approached Nagaraj Prasad bhat for doing narayana Bali pooja.he is not commercial and very dedicated person.pooja went on 3 hrs.this Pooja has to be done at rudrakiya harehareswar temple.he took us there. He charged 12000. He gave us food and stay free of cost.am satisfied with Pooja.

I read most of the comments from nrithy garu, Naveen Hyderabad and few others and approached Gokarna Balkrishna Gopal Adi pandit and Completed Narayana Bali pooja, Tripindi Sartham,Tilahomam etc on July 22 & 23 rd Amavasya day. Everything went well as everyone mentioned here, we stayed almost 3 days and went Lord Mahabaleshwar abhishek am seva. Everything he arranged well and we had very Good Satvik Brahmin Bhi janam. He is able to talk in telugu and also understand us. I seen few more Telugu pol joined during this time for the same puja. Once again thanks to Murthy garu,Naveen Hyderabad and others for provinding the important information here.

this is a combined reply to Mr.Harsha & Mr/Ms.Sree queries, unfortunately Narayana bali pooja is not very popular in Andhra pradesh. Though some purohits claim they perform this, but there is lot of difference in the manner it is done in Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra (Nasik). of course they are also commercial but procedure wise they are much better. Now coming to the question, yes the best place to be do is on the banks of river, sea, or sangamam. the tithi & nakshatra will have to be fixed based on the person who is performing.

my advice to all those going to Gokarna please note the accommodation provided by the pundits is generally in 1st & 2nd floors without any lift facility. we had difficulty as my parents who had to perform these pujas are elders and cannot take steps. we had to shift to a hotel. please check this before. I read most of the comments in this blog and discussed with Rajendraji and approached Sri Anant Guniji and completed Narayana Bali pooja, Tripindi Sartham,Tilahomam and other poojas also which included Ganapathy Homam, Rudra Homam, Navagraha Shanthi, etc. in the month of August. After all the rituals, we went to Lord Mahabaleshwara and performed abhishekam and other sevas. Sri Anant Guniji explained every ritual in detail and significance of performing those, his team of Purohiths performed all the rituals to our full satisfaction. I have gone through nice emotions while conducting pooja and at the end of it felt very happy for my ancestors.
Everything went so well, we stayed there for almost 3 days. Sri Anant Guniji had booked a good accommodation for us and we had very good satvik food at his place during our stay. Sri Ananth Guniji is well versed in all branches of Veda; he does regular chandipath on all the Fridays since several years, apart from Narayana Bali Pooja he performs poojas for Graha Shanthi, Dosha nivarana, All Homas, Havanas and Poojas for health, wealth and prosperity. He and his fellow Purohiths are very approachable and trust worthy. Sri Anant Guniji’s family are very welcoming and they behave like you are their own family members.

It is well connected from Hubli and karwar.and these cities are very well connected from rest of country by road and rail.
Kannadigas are soft spoken and heartily people Language is not a barrier.

As per the information provided by Murthy Garu & Naveen Garu, we have contacted Balakrishna Gopal Adi garu @ Gokarna and we have completed Narayana Bali Pooja on 17th & 18th March 2018.
After contacting Balakrishna garu over the phone, he explained everything about the Narayana Bali Pooja and necessity of doing this Pooja.
Shri. Balakrishna garu is very nice person and he has a very good name in Gokarna. From starting to Completing the Pooja he has done everything perfectly along with his team and his son Shri. Prasanna Adi garu. And we don’t know Kannada but he & his team are well versed with Telugu language. So we didn’t face any language issues.
Now comes to the Pooja details, it was a two day process.
First day 17th March 2018, we first had a darshan of Mahaganapathi then Mahabaleshwara swamy & Pravathi Devi temple. After we have completed the Narayana Bali Pooja. It took approx. 3 hours time to complete the pooja. After completing the first day pooja the person who is doing the pooja has to take head bath in the hotel room. Here my dad done the pooja. And remaining day we have taken rest in the hotel room. First day after completing the pooja temple entry is prohibited.
Second day 18th March 2018, tripindi shraddha pooja, it also took 2 to 3 hours time. After completing the pooja, my dad has came to room and took the head bath, then we all went to Mahaganapathi temple and then Mahabaleshwara swamy & Parvathi Devi temple. We had a good darshan and we also done abhishekam to lord Shiva. After that they arranged the lunch for 5 Brahmins and they all blessed us. We all felt very happy the way the pooja has done by Balakrishna Adi Garu & their team.
And you should not eat any food outside this two days. All the food & accommodation arrangements is taken care by Balakrishna Adi Garu.
Now the Narayana Bali Pooja cost is Rs.15000/- including Room stay, breakfast, lunch & dinner.
The rooms were very clean and especially I have to tell something about Balakrishna Adi Garu & their team. The food was very good and they serve the food until your stomach blasts. Keep on serving the tasty food.
For all those who wants to do the Narayana Bali Pooja, please contact Balakrishna Adi Garu since you have to complete some procedure before starting from your home.

At that time we didn't know about this pooja, we came to know about this pooja by known people to us recently, then we approached to Balakrishna Adi garu at Gokarna through this website, he explained the necessity of doing this pooja then we have completed this pooja this year 2018. The important places to perform this pooja in India @ Trimbakeshwar and Gokarna. Thank you for detailed inputs and feedback on Narayana Bali Puja. I took Sri Balakrishna Adi's contact number from this forum and contacted him for the Puja. We planned this with a very short notice. We planned and called sri Balakrishna gaaru on friday, 28th Sep night to find out the details. Me and my Husband decided to do annadanam for 108 Brahmins, Suvasinis and brahmacharis, since Balakrishna guruvugaaru on enquiring said that it's ideal to do 108 annadanam for this.
However, we were not sure if this can be done with 2 days notice, since we were planning to do the puja on 1st Oct. We spoke to guruvugaaru and he agreed to arrange for 108 bhojanams, spread across 2 days. We confirmed on Sat night. Guruvugaru and his son started the preparations. The puja and bhojanalu program was a success and it gave us immense contentment and joy.We also had an opportunity to give tambula,dakshina to all the brahmins/muthaiduvas with our hands.
I had only one feeling seeing the arrangements, commitment, passion of sri guruvugaru, his family and team. Balakrishna ji has done the Puja, bhojanalu and the whole program the way my father would have done at home. My Husband Pawan also had exactly the same feeling. He is reminded of his uncle (father figure ).
Whole hearted thanks to all of you for the detailed inputs.
Just one note to add, we don't get good fruits and flowers in Gokarna. Please take them from your place for dakshina, tambula to brahmins.

My request is Kindly suggest which is better Narayan Bali puja in Gokarna or Narayan Naga Bali in Triambakeswar - The cost for the puja in Triambakeswar is Rs 5500 and its done for 3 days so travelling and stay will be expensive
In Gokarna the cost is Rs 15000+ and duration is for half day
So for both the pujas expense is almost same

Hi, thanks for sharing information. Today I have done Narayana Bali puja tripindi shradda in Gokarna with Anant Guniji. He charged 21k. But, the puja was not done by him. He is just arranging with other experienced priests. The puja could be done better. Most of the priests in Gokarna are not doing proper puja. Except for the kshetra mahima, you can go with any priest available locally. I don't recommend Anant Guniji as he is fully commercial and doesn't perform puja satisfactorily.
