Narayana Bali pooja and other Pithru Dosha poojas at Gokarna

This is purely to help people by sharing information about Moksha Narayana bali Pooja at Gokarna, Karnataka, The holy place of Lord Mahabaleshwara and Koti Theertha.
I am a Brahmin.
We/My family were struggling through some common issues (bad luck/obstacles/health/finance etc) which were stuck for a reasonably long time and we approached an astrologer in Hyderabad in Nov 2012.
He suggested us to perform Narayana Bali Pooja for our Pitru Devata who left this world in an unnatural way (death by accident/untimely death etc)
He suggested us to get this ritual done at Gokarna.. Some astrologers suggest to do at
Triyambakeshwar.

It takes less than half day to perform Narayana Bali pooja.
I did some research on the net and found out about a good poojari by name Anantha Guni in Gokarna. I contacted him over phone and arranged for the ritual to be done in Dec 2012.

We traveled from Hyderabad to Hubli by over night train

No direct train from Hyderabad to Gokarna. and no direct train/bus from Hubli to Gokarna..
But you will get many Cabs from Hubli to Gokarna
It was the time of Pitru Paksha and Gokarna was extremely busy at the time we went.
After reaching Gokarna Shri Ananth Guniji received us and arranged a Lodging for us. we stayed there for 3 days and performed the Narayana Bali Pooja.
The ritual was done by good Veda Pandits arranged by Guniji to our full satisfaction by explaining everything in Hindi to us.
As we should not visit temples on the same day of performing the Narayanabali pooja, next day we performed abhisekha to Lord Mahabaleshwar with our own hands with the help of Anantha Guniji, in the temple.

The dakshina taken by Purohits there vary from purohit to purohit depending on how much quality they deliver and also the budget one has for the pooja. They may charge between Rs. 9000/- to Rs. 18000/- for Narayana Bali Pooja alone.
Some people are advised to perform Naga Bali pooja and/or Pretha Samskara along with Narayana Bali pooja. The dakshina will be charged seperately for each pooja.
An average and ideal Dakshina for N.Bali pooja would be around Rs.15000/-
The current rate card can be quoted by the people from Gokarna only.
Apart from pooja Gokarna is a lovely, clean and neat tourist spot with lot of foreigners. There are good number of decent hotels available there. The hotel room tariff will range from Rs.300 to Rs.2000 per day.
I really don't know about others who performed this pooja but, I saw the wonderful result just after 11 days of performing the ritual.Our Long awaited wish was fulfilled.
During our stay we ate at Guniji’s home -Breakfast-Tea, Lunch, evening Tea, Dinner.

Mind you that he was not commercial and did not ask for any pay for the food. It was like a family visit to your close relatives home. Guniji’s family are very welcoming and they behave like you are their own brother/sister.
The only problem we faced was we did not know Kannada langauge.
Purohiths there perform many other poojas for pitru dosha remedy and also poojas like Navagraha Shanthi Pooja, Rudrabhisheka to lord mahabaleshwara and many more.
One suggestion to who all want to go to Gokarna for perform some or the other ritual or pooja..
You need to do some things before starting from home to Gokarna.
things like buying a Whole coconut and taking pradakshina of your house etc.
So please ask the Pandit (from Gokarna) for the things to be done and to be carried along with you.

Some people in Gokarna might trouble you with improper dakshina and shortcuts in performing pooja..
Please arrange for everything over phone with some or the other purohit in advance so that u dont face any problem there.

It will be convenient for you if you can take help of kannada speaking person while talking to the priests as they are weak in hindi and english.
